Fall Musical

HHS 2017 fall musical, "Fiddler On the Roof"!

Humboldt High School Music and Drama departments proudly announce the Fall Musical for 2017 to be Fiddler On the Roof.

Fiddler on the Roof was first performed on Broadway in 1964 and won 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Direction and Best Choreography. It had a record-setting Broadway run at the time with over 3,000 performances. With a musical score that has withstood the test of time, Fiddler on the Roof has enriched audiences world-wide for decades.  Based on the writings of Sholem Aleichem, the story follows Tevye, a simple milkman, as he navigates the rough waters of a turbulent time.  It is set in the little village of Anatevka in Czarist Russia in the year 1905. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his 5 daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and growing anti-Semitism. Strewn with such classics as “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man” and  “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” patrons will be humming the music from “Sunrise [to] Sunset.” Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler On the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness. Mark your calendars now to join Tevye and the cast for three exciting performances on November 2, 3 & 4 at the R.W. Carlson Auditorium. This will be the 37th consecutive Fall Musical at HHS. We hope you will attend and help us extend the wonderful “Tradition” of excellent high school Broadway productions at the R.W. Carlson Auditorium.

Auditions for Fiddler On the Roof will be held Monday and Tuesday, August 28 & 29 at 6:30pm in the R.W. Carlson Auditorium. Audition packets will be available at school registration beginning August 8. MP3 files of the vocal audition cuts are below and free to download. Please come prepared to auditions!

Mark your calendars now to witness theatre magic for three exciting performances on November 2, 3, & 4 at the R.W. Carlson Auditorium.
